Speed, distance and time are tied together by one simple relationship: distance = speed × time. If you know any two of the three quantities, you can always work out the third. Rearranging the formula gives speed = distance ÷ time and time = distance ÷ speed — the same equation viewed from three angles, often drawn as a triangle with distance on top.
