larely is an independent project building small, fast, genuinely useful web tools — calculators and utilities that solve one specific problem well.

Our principles

• Private by design. Tools run entirely in your browser. We don't upload or store the numbers you enter.
• Free & frictionless. No accounts, no paywalls, no "export blocked." Pages are lightweight and load instantly.
• Transparent & honest. We explain how each tool works and cite sources where it matters. Our content is educational, not professional advice.

Who writes the guides

Guides on larely carry the byline Elspeth Varga. In the interest of the transparency we claim above: that is a pen name for larely's editorial work, not a separate individual with credentials of their own. We use a consistent byline so you know the same standard was applied to every article, and we are telling you plainly what it is rather than implying an expert you cannot verify.

What we think should actually earn your trust is the method, not the name on the page:

• Primary sources only. Each guide cites the specification it describes — the RFC, the NIST standard, the vendor's own documentation — and links it, so you can check us rather than take our word.
• Reproducible test vectors. Where a standard publishes known-answer tests, we print those exact values and invite you to run them through our tools and your operating system's. If the three disagree, we are wrong and you will find out in seconds.
• Scope stated honestly. These are technical reference notes. They are not legal, financial or security-compliance advice, and we say so where it matters.
